The treatment device not only has a tail gas sulphide content much lower than the national environmental discharge standard, but also produces nearly 600 tons of high-quality sulfur annually.

According to reports, a large amount of H2S-containing gas is generated during the coal chemical and petroleum refining process. H2S in the gas will cause equipment corrosion, reduce product quality and pollute the environment. Around the desulfurization of chemical waste gas and the recovery of sulphur technology, a large amount of research and development work has been carried out in various countries around the world.

At present, in the field of desulfurization of coal chemical industry, China has introduced foreign or advanced desulfurization technologies in full or in part. However, these imported technologies have low sulfur conversion, high consumption, high cost, and exhaust gas in practical applications. The concentration of sulfur dioxide cannot fully meet the standard. In response to these deficiencies, Fengxi Linyi Branch Co., Ltd. and Shandong Zibo Haichuan Fine Chemicals Co., Ltd. jointly developed a low-temperature, low-concentration selective catalytic oxidation process called “Fengxi Haichuan Catalytic Oxidation”.

The principle of this process is to mix H2S-containing acid gas with air and heat it to 180°C-220°C and send it to the reactor where H2S is directly oxidized. The outlet temperature of the reactor is between 250°C and 280°C. Precipitate inside the downstream separator. According to the company's technical personnel, the main task of the sulfur recovery section is to remove H2S in the acid gas and recover the sulfur, so that the H2S and SO2 in the exhaust gas meet the national environmental protection requirements.

According to Han Ximin, deputy general manager of Fengxi Linyi Branch, the first industrial application of the process was successful, indicating that China has had independent technologies for desulphurization and recycling of sulfur in the coal chemical industry, which changed the monopoly of imported technology and has a good reality. Apply and develop vision. Compared with existing processes, this process has comprehensive advantages in terms of process flow, environmental protection, investment, and efficiency. The process unit has been fully realized in China; all of H2S and SO2 in the exhaust gas have reached the national environmental protection discharge standard; the operation cost is low and the device energy consumption is low, especially in large-scale sulfur recovery units. In addition, the tail gas treatment process also has significant economic, environmental and social benefits.
